Your Choice of Steel

Like many other Bradford Knives, the Guardian 3 is available in a few different steel configurations. Among these are CPM MagnaCut and M390.

As for the former, it is a very tough, very wear-resistant alloy that also offers excellent protection against rust. It’s resistant to chipping and breaking and it’ll hold an edge forever but is a bit tough to resharpen.

M390 is another super steel that is best known for wear-resistance. Like MagnaCut, it will hold an edge forever, but it will also be hard to resharpen. It’s also fairly stainless.

Your Choice of Blade Profile

Both the basic drop point of the Bradford Guardian 3 and the sheepsfoot options are slam dunks.

There’s not much we can say about the utility of a drop point that hasn’t been said a thousand times over. It’s just practical.

As for the sheepsfoot profile variant, that one has a gently swept blade that’s great for making long, arcing cuts effortlessly. Another serious benefit is that a sheepsfoot profile has an inherently tougher tip that’s less likely to snap or chip, even under stress.

Your Choice of Scales

You have your choice of G10 and textured micarta handle scales in the Bradford Guardian 3, and in a variety of different colorways, too, so you can easily personalize the knife.

Both G10 and micarta are excellent scale materials, especially for a knife that will be carried everyday under what can only be assumed will be less than ideal conditions.

Both are impervious to rot and moisture, need no maintenance, and will offer a sound, sure grip even if the scales are cold, wet or even greasy.

Full Tang Construction

As any fixed blade should, the Bradford Guardian 3 sports full tang construction that offers superior strength whenever the knife is applied to any strenuous task.

This helps safeguard the knife against breakage, especially at the shoulder, the critical point where the blade meets the tang.

The Exposed Pommel

At the back of the Guardian 3’s handle, there is a bit of exposed pommel with a hole that runs through it. This feature is useful for two reasons.

One is that the hole serves as a lanyard hole, through which you could add a lanyard if you so like.

The other is that the exposed bit of pommel does double-duty as a glass breaker or even a prying tool, so you don’t have to carry extra tools.

Sheath Options

The standard sheath issued with the Bradford Guardian 3 is a horizontally-rigged leather sheath. It’s a classic and highly functional.

However, Bradford also sells highly modular Kydex sheaths that are even more versatile and which can be rigged in numerous different ways.

Lastly, like all Bradford knives, the Guardian 3 is made and finished by hand, using quality materials, in American by skilled craftsmen. It upholds the strict standards for quality that Bradford has established in its product line.
